Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated NYS Certified Teacher to inspire and educate students in the Ubuntu Leadership Institute Say Yes Summer Camp Program . This position ends August 14, 2026.
This role involves delivering engaging instruction and fostering a positive learning environment that promotes academic growth and social emotional development. The ideal candidate will utilize their expertise in education, elementary teaching, and special education to support diverse learners, including those with disabilities. As a vital member of our educational team, you will implement assessment-driven instruction, utilize learning technology, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure student success. Duties
- Implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards across subjects such as math, literacy, physical education, and library services
- Develop and adapt instructional materials using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other learning technology tools to enhance student engagement
- Conduct ongoing student assessment and analyze performance data to tailor interventions and support academic progress
- Manage classroom behavior through effective conflict management strategies and behavior management techniques
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, special educators, and educational specialists to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and coordinate multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS)
- Deliver targeted academic interventions for students requiring additional support in literacy, math, or social-emotional skills
- Maintain compliance with educational regulations and standards while ensuring a safe, inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning for children of all backgrounds
Experience
- Valid NYS certification as a teacher with experience teaching young children in preschool or elementary school settings
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, and assessment-driven instruction
- Proven experience working with students with disabilities or special needs in inclusive classrooms or specialized settings
- Strong background in early childhood development, childhood education theories, and Montessori or similar pedagogical approaches preferred
- Experience utilizing learning technology platforms such as LMS for instructional delivery and student tracking
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques, conflict resolution, and behavior management strategies
- Prior experience working with diverse populations including toddlers, preschoolers, or private school students is highly desirable
- Ability to analyze student performance data for quantitative assessment of progress and inform instructional decisions
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with students, parents, colleagues, and community stakeholders
