Job Summary:
The Glass Catcher and Packager is responsible for carefully handling, inspecting, labeling and packaging glass products coming off production lines. This role ensures that glass parts meet quality standards and are properly packed for shipment or further processing. The position requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and adherence to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Glass Catching:
- Catch and handle glass products as they come off the production line, ensuring they are free from defects and damage.
- Safely and efficiently remove glass from cutting tables or machines, avoiding breakage or injury.
- Properly labeling of parts as they are coming off the machine.
- Inspection & Quality Control:
- Inspect glass pieces for flaws such as improper cuts.
- Measure and verify that products meet specifications before packaging.
- Report any defects or quality issues to supervisors for immediate resolution.
- Packaging:
- Properly package glass pieces using appropriate materials (e.g., protective wrapping, padding, boxes) to prevent damage during transit.
- Label packaged products accurately for identification and ensure they are ready for shipping or further processing.
- Building boxes as needed for materials.
- Material Handling:
- Organize and stack glass products in the appropriate storage areas, ensuring they are safely stored to prevent damage.
- Assist in organizing finished glass products and preparing them for shipment or transport to other departments.
- Safety & Cleanliness:
- Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and cut-resistant gear.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that workstations are free of hazards.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience & Skills:
- Previous experience in glass handling, manufacturing, or packaging is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot defects in glass products.
- Ability to work with precision and follow safety protocols to avoid injury and damage to materials.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including standing for long periods, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs of heavy glass material, and moving materials.
- Must be comfortable working in a production environment with exposure to glass dust, noise, and machinery.
- Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet production deadlines.
- Good communication skills to report issues and collaborate with coworkers.
- Reliable and punctual, with the ability to work overtime or adjust shifts as needed.
Work Environment:
- The role involves working on the production floor, handling and packaging glass products in a fast-paced environment.
- Exposure to loud noises, glass dust, and heavy machinery is expected, with the required use of safety gear.
