Cash Accountant

About the Role

The Cash Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of daily and monthly cash transactions. This includes reconciling multiple bank accounts, resolving discrepancies, and recording activity in the general ledger. The role supports the monthly close process through journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, assists with quarterly Proof of Cash and balance sheet flux analysis, and collaborates with Corporate Treasury to maintain accurate cash records. Additionally, the Cash Accountant ensures compliance with key controls and company policies while contributing to process improvements.

What the Candidate Will Do

• Responsible for the daily & monthly reconciliation of multiple Uber Freight bank accounts.  Includes analyzing and resolving discrepancies between company records and bank records by following up on incorrect items and escalating any exceptions as necessary. 
• Reconcile multiple Uber Freight bank accounts daily and monthly, resolving discrepancies and escalating exceptions as needed.
• Process daily bank files and ensure accurate, timely recording of cash transactions.
• Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations as part of the monthly close process.
• Assist with quarterly Proof of Cash reconciliations and support audit requests by preparing workpapers.
• Collaborate with Corporate Treasury to maintain accurate cash records and ensure compliance with key controls.
• Review and analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, posting adjustments as necessary.
• Ensure adherence to GAAP and company policies while seeking process improvements.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
• 2 years of cash accounting experience or financial support roles

Preferred Qualifications

• 2–4 years in accounting or financial support roles, preferably in high-volume industries; transportation/logistics experience is a plus
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and processes; proficiency in Oracle Cloud or similar ERP systems (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, etc.)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with other MS Office applications (Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint)
• Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical skills; ability to identify and implement process improvements
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to explain complex accounting concepts clearly and build effective relationships across all levels
• Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and committed to delivering exceptional service; thrives in a team environment with a continuous improvement mindset
• Familiarity with foreign currency transactions and conversions
