What You Will Do
- Lead the design of mission critical tools that support fleet operations, autonomy workflows, remote assistance, and system monitoring across Uber's AV ecosystem.
- Contribute to product strategy and roadmap definition in partnership with Product, Engineering, and Operations, helping prioritize investments and define long term design direction.
- Translate complex technical constraints, autonomy behaviors, and real time data flows into clear, usable, and resilient interfaces.
- Partner deeply with engineering, PM, research, and operations to shape product direction from early technical exploration through execution.
- Drive design strategy for complex problem spaces, balancing human factors, system reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Design and evolve scalable interaction patterns, frameworks, and internal design systems for autonomy and robotics tooling.
- Coach and mentor other designers through regular critique, feedback, and hands on collaboration, helping grow technical and systems design capability within the team.
- Set a high bar for craft, clarity, and execution, influencing quality beyond your immediate product area.
- 7 years of experience in Product Design or equivalent practical experience, with demonstrated ownership of complex systems.
- Strong portfolio showcasing deeply technical work, including internal tools, robotics interfaces, AI driven products, or operational platforms.
- Proven ability to design for complex workflows, edge cases, and high consequence environments.
- Advanced proficiency with Figma and modern design and prototyping workflows.
- Strong foundation in information architecture, interaction design, and systems thinking.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working closely with highly technical partners in ambiguous problem spaces.
- Experience designing for autonomous systems, robotics, or advanced AI driven products.
- Background in tooling design, including internal platforms, operational dashboards, or control interfaces.
- Familiarity with real time systems, geospatial data, live monitoring, telemetry, or remote assistance workflows.
- Experience contributing to or leading internal design systems for complex products.
- Comfort reasoning about technical tradeoffs and constraints, and translating them into design decisions.
Salary : $205,000 - $228,000
