JOB SUMMARY
UBE covers the Coatings Adhesive Sealant and Elastomer (CASE) market. The primary focus of this role is to expand a relatively small chemistry - polycarbonate diol (PCD) to the industry. It will have responsibility for creating and optimizing the channels to market including assessment of if the PCD should be sold as a raw material or finished good into the end market. The Account Manager should manage an existing portfolio of accounts in the US, as well as hunt for new opportunities and customers to profitably grow the business. The role focuses on developing and implementing business strategies to growth across all application market segments. This includes the assessment of the customer technical requirements, proposal of products from existing portfolio or business justification for development of new grades.
Requirements:JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research of new market opportunities in CASE by understanding the customer product and technical requirements to provide competitive solutions using urethane product lines and technologies.
- Develop opportunity pipeline, ensuring technical and commercial validation of projects and actively manage projects through commercialization of new business, including direct interface with Product Management and production sites to ensure alignment with capacity and profitability.
- Channel partner and route to market assessment with Regional Management to ensure route to market is cost optimized and appropriate for business development
- Maintain existing and develop new professional customer relationships, to provide timely first call technical support to customers.
- Increase UBE exposure and possibilities for new developments by creating a network of contacts within a customer, focusing on procurement and R&D contacts and key decision makers.
- Commercial management of accounts including negotiation of product pricing, service levels and terms with both new and existing portfolio of customers.
- Coordinate with supply chain, operations, marketing and application development team to ensure delivery of growth plans in territory and provide additional value to customers including joint development work.
- Understand customer projects, demand and forecast.
- Professional use of CRM and forecasting tools to ensure supply and demand planning accuracy and detailed customer records for market and product data, visit reports and pipeline opportunities.
- Updates and reports to management for business development KPIs.
- Attend trade fairs/ industry events for lead capture and networking as well as brand promotion and awareness.
- Provide feedback of customers technical requirements to UBE groups R&D Team to assist in the development of new grades which is suitable for the US market.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree, Technical Science Field
- 5-10 years of experience in related field
- Project management experience
- Experience in urethanes and in particular polycarbonate technology and knowledge of elastomer applications.
- Ability to value sell and develop new business. Strong negotiation skills.
- Technical competency to provide first line technical service.
- Advanced financial acumen to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume as well as providing business projections.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship management and communications skills.
- Structured and organized.
- Highly self-motivated with bias for action.
- 50% travel required.
