What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Investment Analyst, Income Strategies position at UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust?
The Senior Investment Analyst will be an integral participant in monitoring the Trust’s portfolio, primarily in income strategies. The Trust uses a generalist model, although this individual will report to team members in Income, they are expected to function across the team and be exposed to multiple asset classes. This individual should thrive in a hands-on culture with on-the-job training augmented with mentoring by senior members of the Investment staff. In particular, the collaborative culture of the Trust offers the opportunity to gain broad experience across investment functions including traditional and alternative asset classes.
Essential Functions
Portfolio Data and Monitoring
· Performs fundamental and statistical investment analysis for existing and potential investment opportunities
· Through Excel, Bloomberg, eVestment, Dynamo, Caissa, and other systems, build manager analysis reports to assist in monitoring performance, positioning, peer groups, and rebalancing recommendations
· Build and maintain spreadsheets and other reports that are clear to follow, accurate, and able to be utilized by others
· Develop expertise in Bloomberg to extract and present data for various reports; develop abilities to create custom Bloomberg reporting
· Maintain weekly “flash” report detailing fixed income performance and positioning
- Assist the investment team in assessing investment solutions appropriate to the Trust’s risk and return objectives
Presentations
· Assist in building and formatting presentations to communicate portfolio strategy, performance reviews, and other topics
· Produce visually appealing presentations using approved templates and formats
Operations
· Contribute to smooth operations of the Investment Office through extensive use of Outlook, including meeting scheduling and e-mail communications with internal and external parties
· Assist in document retention through Dynamo; review that required material is stored properly and resolve issues as needed
· Create and monitor department “to do” lists and communicate upcoming deadlines
Investment Manager Diligence
- Assist in market mapping and manager due diligence
- Perform appropriate quantitative and qualitative analysis and related written documentation for investment manager due diligence
- Preparing and presenting investment materials

Technical Competencies
- Highly proficient in personal computer skills and use of software (Microsoft suite and other applicable investment tools)
- Solid understanding of and demonstrated interest in investments

- High attention to detail

- Asset class experience in fixed income preferred but not required

Minimum Required Experience
Minimum of three years of work experience in investment management, consulting and/or other relevant roles.
Education, Professional Certifications and Licensure
· Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business, Finance, or related subjects
· Desire to pursue, or progress towards Chartered Financial Analyst
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
· The physical requirements for this position are typical of office work.
· Occasional travel as required to Trust’s Detroit office. Infrequent travel to conferences.
