Job Description
Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Executive, the Vice President of Evidence-Based Practice & Professional Development develops and maintains infrastructure for the application of evidence-based knowledge to improve nursing practice and related outcomes. Collaborates and consults with nursing leaders and clinical nursing staff to assure ABN professional nursing practice standards compliance. Responsible for the development of standardized educational initiatives across the enterprise organization. Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, protocols, and standards in alignment with evidence-based practice. Responsible for advancing nursing practice and innovation through the establishment of shared governance councils across the enterprise to develop shared decision-making councils, unit practice councils, evidence-based practice, and nursing research. Works closely with leadership and staff in successfully executing initiatives throughout the organization and (when applicable) ANCC designation programs (such as Magnet® and /Pathway to Excellence®) and Beacon Awards. Responsible for prioritizing initiatives across the health system, guiding implementation of appropriate clinical changes, providing educational programs to achieve system goals, and administering professional development and transition to practice programs focused on retention.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required. Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Clinical Quality Improvement, or related field required. Doctorate preferred. Ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in nursing, clinical quality, graduate-level education, or healthcare performance improvement with a demonstrated record of successful enterprise-wide quality initiatives. Work experience may not substitute for education requirements.
Licenses / Certifications / Registrations
Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Approximately four (4) to ten (10) direct reports.
