Job Description
To support point of care staff caring for patients with a ventricular assist device (VAD) across the continuum of care. To educate staff and patients. To facilitate the safe transition of the VAD patient throughout UAB Medicine. To ensure care provided during procedures follows safe nursing practices. The VAD Specialist Lead role will provide excellent care for the VAD population and families, role model the values of UAB Hospital, and manage the day activities and personnel with the VAD Team.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and two (2) years experience working as a VAD Specialist. Work experience can NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.Why Work at UAB Medicine
