Job Description
To function as a capable specialist for analysis, design and implementation to influence appropriate change utilizing technology resources within the healthcare work environment. Through clinical and technical experience, to develop greater awareness of the relationship between clinical practice and clinical applications. To perform various duties in the system life cycle to support the successful implementation of healthcare technologies that achieve customer goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Nursing and four (4) years of experience in direct patient care and four (4) years electronic medical record experience. One (1) year work experience with UAB preferred. Cerner applications experience preferred. Master's degree preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
Preferred Skills:
Healthcare Knowledge
- Strong familiarity with clinical workflows and healthcare operations
- Understanding of regulatory standards such as HIPAA and HITECH
- Experience with EMR downtime documentation tools, forms, and reconciliation processes.
Technical Proficiency
- Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (e.g., Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint)
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
- Ability to coordinate and manage planned and unplanned EMR downtime events.
- High attention to detail and data accuracy
- Skilled in managing complex scenarios without overlooking critical details
Project Management & Communication
- Proven ability to manage timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables in a healthcare setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective collaborator across clinical, technical, and administrative teams
Adaptability
- Able to adjust plans quickly based on feedback or unforeseen challenges
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments
