UAB Facilities Hospital Maintenance is hiring an Instrument & Controls Technician to maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot building automation, HVAC, and control systems that keep critical hospital environments operating safely and efficiently. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring system reliability, comfort, and compliance across the hospital’s facilities.
Job Description
To ensure the reliability and safety of critical systems that impact patient care and regulatory compliance, including negative/positive pressure rooms, HVAC controls, building automation systems (BAS), regulatory alarms and emergency monitoring equipment. To maintain continuous on-call readiness, familiarity with regulatory codes, and effectively troubleshoots complex control systems under timesensitive conditions. To apply expertise in support of life safety and infection control measures across hospital facilities.
Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited vocational or technical school in a two (2) year Electronic, HVAC, or Electrical program and six (6) years of related experience is required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement. ASHE Senior Mechanic Evaluation and Certification for Health Care (SRMECH) Certification required within six months of employment Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current guidelines include possession of a valid driver's license issued in the United States, at least 21 years of age and at least 3 years of driving experience. Must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
