Job Highlights
Our highly skilled acute care therapy team provides occupational, physical, speech, and music therapies, along with audiology services, across a variety of settings. Practice locations include UAB Hospital and UAB Hospital-Highlands, which includes 12 specialty ICUs and two emergency departments, as well as specialty clinics like the UAB Russell Clinic and the Audiology Clinic at The Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital. The goal of therapy at this level is to promote early mobilization, restore function, prevent further decline, enhance communication, and facilitate a safer and more seamless transition to the next level of care. Acute care therapy services are available with a referral from a physician, and patients of all ages are treated at the bedside in most cases.
Job Description
To evaluate, plan, direct and administer programs of audiology as prescribed by the referring physician. To evaluate hearing of patients with ear abnormalities and/or auditory disorders. To provide rehabilitation services for the purposes of hearing loss prevention, communication retraining, and hearing aid adaptation as needed.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Audiology or a related field required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Licensed or eligible to be licensed by the Alabama Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (ABESPA) required. Must complete clinical fellowship and receive Certificate of Clinical Competence within designated timeframe. Currently certified with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required.
