What You’ll Do:
Engages in activities that support US Xpress shops and Xpress Roadside by maintaining, forecasting, and reporting proper parts, and/or supplies inventory. Working under minimal supervision, the specialist ensures properly written SOPs are created or updated for pivotal operations and continuously works to improve USX’s position in the marketplace.
· Perform inventory audits remotely and on site at shop locations and ensure accurate inventory tracking of all parts and cores.
· Work with internal departments such as Dedicated Operations to fulfill aftermarket equipment requirements. (Including, but not limited to: Pintle Hooks, Roller Racks, Load Locks and Load Straps)
· Research part assemblies at the piece part level to improve sourcing delays and issues.
Support the Warranty Department in all Campaigns and Recalls including part availability, delivery timing and stocking levels at all Shop locations.
· Work with suppliers to improve processes and reduce friction points.
· Work with suppliers to address emerging issues and concerns with pricing changes, part availability, Lead Times and control of non-compliant parts.
· Provide training for shop parts personnel at HQ and on site at shop locations as needed.
· Ensure accurate and timely ordering, shipping, tracking, and receiving of parts.
· Purchase parts from manufacturers and suppliers as well as acquiring parts from other resources in order to maintain inventory levels appropriate for operations at the shops.
· Create and maintain training materials for internal and external educational requirements.
· Manage the CapEx workflow for Maintenance Department requirements.
· Support and advise new Part Room designs, layouts, shelving and initial stocking levels.
· Track and manage parts related to equipment approaching the end of useful life to ensure there are no excess parts remaining after the equipment has left the fleet.
· Provide input and evaluation of prospective (new) suppliers.
· Develop and implement procedures to maintain a well-organized area designated for parts housing, retrieval, and maintenance.
· Process part orders by closing invoices and updating inventory records.
· Review internal reports and file warranty claims for damaged parts.
· Issue purchase orders and obtain the proper parts while considering price, warranty options, etc.
· Negotiate parts and material prices with vendors.
· Process and input data related to purchase orders and invoices and correct and coach shop personnel when errors are found.
· Support Parts Rooms and Shops after standard business hours and on weekends.
· Assist leadershipwith existing reporting and develop new reporting as required.
· Assist leadership with Shop Tooling estimates and procurement.
· Perform other duties as assigned
· May require up to 10-40% travel to various regional facilities with USX and subsidiaries.
What We’re Looking For:
Education
· Associate degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred. Equivalent years of experience are defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.
Experience
· 2 - 4 years transportation or similar industrial work experience required
· Experience in the transportation industry a plus
Skills/Certifications
· Must have excellent internal and external customer service and interpersonal skills.
· Must be able to utilize general office equipment (computers, phones, etc.).
· Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask.
· Ability to follow all safety rules and identify hazards as appropriate.
· Some mechanical aptitude required.
· Must possess a valid driver's license with good driving record.
· Obtain VMRS certification within 1 year of hire date
