What You’ll Do:
- Report Layovers and DH to the Load Planning Manager
- Plan an assigned area in accordance with established load planning standards.
- Will act as the first escalation point for all night operations.
- Work on service solutions to meet our customers’ expectations across all areas.
- Lead and coach other night employees across all departments to meet operational objectives.
- Coordinate freight tracking of key accounts across all departments during the assigned shift.
- Track freight from the night hot sheet and coordinate service solutions to pick up and deliver on time.
- Ensure proper system documentation of freight through SD comments and written communication.
- Ensure proper stakeholders are included in communication of operational issues.
- Oversee effective handoff communication during shift change
- Identify and communicate nightly balance disruptions in the network while offering solutions that maximize profitability.
- Provides consultative support to other employees across the night operations team including those inside and outside of the load planning department.
- Assist in the design of operational programs; assist in long-term planning strategy.
- Provide feedback to departmental leaders on the operational effectiveness of the night team while providing ideas for process and personnel improvement.
- Maintain proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the department is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- May include other duties as assigned by Management.
- Oversee dispatch phone system ensuring all operations employees are in Queue and drivers are not experiencing long hold times
What We’re Looking For:
Education
- Any combination of education or experience equivalent to a four-year degree
Experience
- 5 years in-depth high-volume field operational experience
Skills/Certifications
- Superior analytical, communication and interpersonal skills; Strong problem solving and innovative thinking skills
- Extreme patience dealing with volatile situations; flawless follow-up procedures
- Comprehensive knowledge of regulations impacting daily operations (DOT – national and state)
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; query and/or database application programs (Showcase or Access)
- Strategic thinker with proven leadership skills.
