Job Description:
  • Workers at this level solve more complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. Workers are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with even greater independence. They effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressingly complex and varied. ?15 years discipline experience and unique SME skills.
  • Seeking a P&C Switchyard Engineer (SME) for a Nuclear Electrical Design Team. The primary role of this position will be to serve as Electrical SME on Transmission lead projects in high voltage (230kV and 525kV) nuclear switchyards. However, the position also may support plant projects such as transformer replacements, modifications to medium/low voltage distribution systems, and plant auxiliaries.  A hybrid or in-office work setup is preferred to foster collaboration and mentorship. Limited overtime (typically 4/12-hour shifts) may be required to support nuclear refueling outages and project implementation.
  • The Ideal candidate will have 15 years’ experience in P&C design. Placement of candidates with less years will be considered at the Lead Engineer or Senior Engineer level based on years of experience.
 
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Developing Nuclear Design Changes and performing Design Verifications in accordance with The Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-001).
  • Perform Quality and Owner Acceptance Reviews for vendor developed design deliverables, ensuring technical accuracy, constructability, safety, and compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
  • Developing and reviewing electrical calculations in accordance with nuclear procedures and processes.
  • Develop equipment specifications and procurement documentation; participate in equipment evaluation, selection, and technical alignment with project needs.
  • Work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to execute projects, resolve complex technical challenges, and ensure compliance with specifications, permits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and testing activities, including resolution of field issues and design modifications.
  • Apply and interpret NRC, IEEE, NESC, and NERC standards and utility requirements throughout design development, reviews, and construction support.
