Overview

The purpose of this position is to ensure the accurate and timely completion of all kitchen equipment installations of new equipment, repairs and preventative maintenance according to specifications and established safety guidelines. Work under general supervision, be able to work alone, and with others, and be on a rotating on-call list.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Kitchen Equipment / Appliance

  • Ensure the accurate and timely installation and repair of Kitchen Equipment / Appliance.
  • Systematically inspect all USSRC equipment including technical, electro-mechanical, gas, and plumbing to maintain effective and efficient levels of operation and safety.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely completion of maintenance requests.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely set-up of temporary facilities for USSRC promotional and special events if needed.
  • Meet or exceed the expectations of the Building Maintenance Manager for the accurate and timely completion of related tasks and assignments.
  • The above duties reflect the general responsibilities necessary to describe the principal work functions of the job and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all work requirements that may be in the position.
  • Will be on an on-call rotating schedule.
  • Be willing to help in all areas of maintenance as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Qualifications

Required Education

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent is required.
  • May be able to be supplemented by a 2-year degree or 5 years of additional specialized training in kitchen equipment / appliance repair and maintenance.

Preferred Education

Required Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in the field or a related area. Education in this field is beneficial. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Computer Experience: Must possess knowledge of Windows-based operating systems; including some basic associated software applications (word processing and spreadsheets).

Other Requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Walking, climbing (stairs), twisting of body, and crawling under buildings, through attics, and in small spaces for long periods of time conducting inspections of buildings and to access other departments and buildings.
  • Carrying, lifting equipment, and supplies up to 50lbs waist high.
  • Bending, kneeling, reaching to store/retrieve supplies, inspect and repair of kitchen equipment/ appliances
  • Must be able to utilize various tools and equipment.
  • Talking, hearing, and sight capabilities to manage position as well as to communicate with supervisor and fellow building maintenance team members.
  • This position may involve working outside in all temperatures and conditions as well as in a climate controlled building that is subject to noisy, dusty conditions. This position deals with employees and service providers who interact with assigned areas of responsibility. This position is subject to the occupational hazards that are involved in working with kitchen trade equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • 5 years of experience in kitchen equipment maintenance, including experience in electrical, plumbing, gas, and refrigeration work OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to use the tools, equipment, and materials of this trade.
  • Must be familiar with standard practices, methods, occupational hazards, and safety precautions of this trade.

Expected Hours of Work

  • Monday through Friday, 7am – 3:30pm, could vary dependent on the support needs of the department.
  • Flexibility with the above hours is required.
  • Rotating on-call availability may be required after a training process.
