SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
The purpose of U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s Sports Medicine Department is to support the vision of making the United States of America the best in the world in Olympic skiing and snowboarding. We strive to do this by providing effective athlete medical management both in health and in return from injury, safety in event organization and equipment, a level field of play, and through athlete education. In this respect, the primary role of this position is to oversee the management and coordination of athlete care with respect to all medically related issues for named team athletes on their respective team while utilizing outside expertise and rotational support personnel when necessary.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Athlete Experience and Team Role
- Direct athlete treatment / rehabilitation
- On hill coverage of all training and competitions as determined by the team schedule
- Documentation, communication, and facilitation of athlete medical management
- Assisting with insurance claims surrounding injuries
- Coordination with FS/SB performance staff and volunteer providers
- Participation in sports medicine special projects pertaining to injury, risk mitigation, and performance medicine
- Operational Excellence: Freeski/Snowboard Coordinator
- Assist in scheduling PT/AT and physician coverage for all FS/SB teams’ projects
- Assist in preparation, organization, and execution of team preparticipation physicals annually
- Lead staff CME/ education sessions throughout the year
- Mentor and develop PT/AT providers for FS/SB teams
- Participate in annual review of FS/SB teams PTs/ATCs
- Med kit restock (PT kit when needed, Physician kit, med stock for kit)
- Seasonal coverage at the Center of Excellence
- Participation in all Medical/ High Performance meetings
- Additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned

COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE
- Certified Athletic Trainer (NATA Certification Board) or Licensed Physical Therapist with background in sports injuries or athletic training
- First Aid and CPR certified
- Expert Ski and/or Snowboard ability
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of the athlete management team including coaches, staff, athletes, and doctors
- Excellent manual skills for athlete recovery and rehabilitations
- Participate in all U.S. Ski & Snowboard team staff and Medical staff meetings
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE

- Physical Requirements include lifting at least 50 lbs, ability to stand outside slope side or course side during training and competitions in adverse weather conditions.
