The ideal candidate will be responsible for being the main driver in our innovation process where you will actively participate in the ideation, design development, and launching of products, processes, and services. Product Design Engineers are responsible for creating new or enhanced products and processes to market. This includes researching new opportunities, developing performance criteria, creating prototypes, field testing, evaluating cost-effectiveness, documenting progress, and providing progress reports. U.S. Pipe is a foundry and much of the innovation process will be related to the foundry environment which includes tooling, parts, molds, fabrication, and core-boxes.

Responsibilities
- Use innovation system to develop innovations from ideation to launch.
- Conduct research, create design proposals, and update performance specifications.
- Coordinate with vendor partners and manage purchase orders and quotes.
- Perform product and verification testing, including dimensional verification, assembly, and disassembly.
- Coordinate with Innovation Engineers and Operations Team to evaluate development and production costs.
- Attend trade shows or industry events as desired to further training and inspiration.
- Assumes responsibility for the accurate and detailed documentation of mechanical products through the creation, modification, and maintenance of product drawings.
- Additional engineering support functions may be required.
- BS Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Materials required.
- Must possess extensive proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D Modeling.
- Must have a solid working knowledge of modern drawing requirements (Geometric Tolerancing preferred).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to details required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
- Must be able to function independent of close supervision, and to interact in cross functional team environment.
- Must possess demonstrable initiative.
