You will serve as an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (OS) SPECIALIST in the DIRECTOR MARITIME INFORMATION WARFARE FLEET INFORMATION WARFARE COMMAND, COMMUNICATION and INFORMATION SYSTEMS, CS OPERATIONS DIVISION (Code N631) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

Help

  • You will serve as the Linux Operating System subject matter expert for COMPACFLT Maritime Operations Center (MOC) Command and Control (C2) systems.
  • You will utilize approved scanning and compliance software tools including, but not limited to, ACAS and Vulnerability Remediation Asset Manager (VRAM).
  • You will analyze data to determine trends in use or performance that could lead to future problems.
  • You will develop new standards, methods, and techniques, evaluate the impact of technological change, and/or conceives of solutions to highly complex technical issues.
  • You will perform software development and troubleshooting supporting Linux based systems.
  • You will load and update software supporting LINUX platforms. Implements and monitors Information Assurance (IA) safeguards for LINUX systems in accordance with implementation plans and standard operating procedures.
  • You will review and assist in writing System Security Authorization Agreement (SSAA) and Application Security Plans (ASP) to ensure compliance with RMF and local security requirements.
  • You will work cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes as needed to ensure project and program success.
  • You will provide on-site operational Linux technical and system administration support for COMPACFLT operational missions as the technical subject matter expert.
  • You will apply information security, information assurance, information systems security and network operations principles.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final TOP SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position has been designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce in specialty

    area 411 (Technical Support Specialist) at the Master level
  • Earn and maintain appropriate credentials from the Cyber IT/CSWF Qualification Matrix (described in SECNAV-M 5239.2) associated with the specialty area and level for the position to which you are assigned.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) installing, configuring, and maintaining enterprise-level Linux operating systems (such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux); 2) Managing and configuring virtualized environments or hypervisor platforms; 3) Hardening systems in accordance with government security compliance guidelines (such as DISA STIGs).

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
