What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Volunteer position at U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps?
This position is for adult volunteers interested in giving back to young Americans by serving in the U.S. Naval Sea cadet Corps, Desert Storm Division located in Ontario, CA.
The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps or "Sea Cadets" is the Navy’s youth development program. We give young Americans skills, knowledge, and confidence through an amazing variety of training opportunities. Sea Cadets wear the Navy's uniforms, work as teams in a disciplined environment, and adhere to our core values of honor, respect, commitment, and service.

Adult volunteers may be parents, military members, veterans, or any American willing to contribute to the development of these amazing young men and women. They may volunteer on site during our bi-monthly drills or "meetings" on the second and fourth Saturdays a month from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, or remotely.
Adult volunteers who meet the appropriate qualifications and standards may opt to wear the modified Navy uniform, but are not required. Adult volunteers are not affiliated or required to be affiliated with the DoD.
Responsibilities
Volunteers may serve in a variety of roles including:
- Instructor, Training Officer and Division Officer - Responsible for the direct supervision and training of cadets. These volunteers interact with cadets on a daily basis in order to mentor and foster leadership and personal growth.
- Administrative Officer - Responsible for the management and maintenance of cadet and unit records, tracking cadet promotions, preparing awards, and preparing unit documents for annual inspection.
- Financial Officer - Responsible for tracking and maintaining unit finances and financial documentation, creating budgets, and preparing for annual audits.
- Public Affairs Officer - Responsible for maintaining unit webpage and social media pages, preparing photo collages and articles for unit archives, coordinating recruiting events and supervising recruiting staff, taking photos during unit functions or coordinating with Mass Communications Specialist cadets for photos, videos, and articles.
- Supply Officer - Responsible for maintaining and tracking unit supplies including office and training supplies, uniform items and others, measuring and outfitting cadets for their uniform items, preparing supply requisitions and organizing unit storage.
- Auxiliary - Assists by filling any additional unit needs either from home or at the unit.
Qualifications
Volunteers with the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps must:
- Possess good moral character and sound mind
- Be at least 18 years of age or older
- Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident
- Be free of felony convictions
- Be willing to undergo and pass a full background investigation
- Complete the child safety and protection online course "Darkness 2 Light" within a month after joining the program.
