Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to support our industrial and hydraulic hose assembly operations.

This position serves as an important quality and safety checkpoint between fabrication and shipment to the customer. The Quality Control Technician is responsible for inspecting completed assemblies, verifying materials and fittings, reviewing pressure-test results, maintaining quality documentation and traceability, and helping identify and correct recurring quality issues.

The right candidate will be comfortable working directly on the production floor and collaborating with production, purchasing, shipping, and management to ensure products meet customer requirements and company quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspection & Testing

  • Perform pre-assembly and final inspections of industrial, hydraulic, PTFE, and metal hose assemblies.
  • Verify hose, fittings, components, orientation, overall length, and other customer specifications against work orders and drawings.
  • Verify proper crimp diameters and fitting attachment using calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, and other measuring equipment.
  • Verify hydrostatic pressure testing and test documentation as required.
  • Verify air-under-water testing of metal hose assemblies when applicable.
  • Identify defects, incorrect components, workmanship issues, leaks, or assemblies that do not meet specifications.
  • Place nonconforming product on hold when requirements are not met.

Quality Documentation & Traceability

  • Initiate and maintain Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for defective material, incorrect assemblies, or process failures.
  • Maintain lot, batch, heat, and material traceability when required.
  • Review and maintain material certifications and supplier documentation.
  • Complete inspection reports, pressure-test certifications, Certificates of Conformance, and other customer-required quality documentation.
  • Assist with First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and customer-specific quality requirements.
  • Maintain organized and accurate quality records.

Standards & Compliance

  • Ensure assemblies are manufactured and inspected according to applicable customer specifications, company procedures, and industry standards.
  • Support compliance with applicable NAHAD, SAE, ISO, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving documented quality procedures and work instructions.
  • Support internal and customer quality audits as needed.

Calibration & Inspection Equipment

  • Maintain the calibration schedule for measuring and test equipment.
  • Verify calipers, micrometers, pressure gauges, test benches, and other inspection equipment remain within calibration.
  • Maintain calibration records and identify equipment that is damaged, expired, or out of tolerance.
  • Coordinate outside calibration services when required.

Root Cause & Corrective Action

  • Assist in investigating customer returns, field failures, internal defects, and recurring quality issues.
  • Work with production personnel to determine root causes such as incorrect components, improper crimping, incorrect assembly methods, or material defects.
  • Participate in Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) activities.
  • Track recurring defects and help identify opportunities to prevent repeat issues.
  • Communicate quality concerns to production and management.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of quality control, inspection, manufacturing, industrial hose, hydraulic, machining, fabrication, or similar experience preferred.
  • Experience in industrial or hydraulic hose assembly is a strong plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, thread gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to stop or hold product that does not meet requirements.
  • Comfortable documenting defects and working directly with production employees to resolve issues.
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn ERP and quality-documentation systems.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, NAHAD, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, NCR/CAPA processes, or similar quality systems is preferred but not required.

  • Reduce internal assembly errors and customer returns.
  • Improve first-pass quality.
  • Ensure required pressure testing and inspection documentation is completed accurately.
  • Maintain 100% compliance with required calibration schedules.
