Summary

You will serve as an INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST in the INFORMATION TECHHNOLOGY SERVICES DEPARTMENT (N6) of FLT NUMER OCEANGPHY METEO CTR.

Duties

Help

  • You will provide the Commanding Officer and other personnel with a need to know with information about new or revised Communications Security (COMSEC) policies and procedures and their impact on the command.
  • You will acquire, monitor and maintain command COMSEC material allowance to include a semiannual review of all COMSEC material holdings to ensure that there is a continuing need for the quantity and types of all COMSEC materials held.
  • You will ensure alternate manager(s) remain informed of the status of the account so that the alternate(s) are always fully capable of assuming the duties in the absence of the Key Management Infrastructure Operating Manager (KOAM).
  • You will conduct training to ensure that all personnel, including remote Local Elements (Les), handling COMSEC material are familiar with and adhere to proper COMSEC procedures.
  • You will ensure prompt and accurate preparation, signature, and submission of account correspondence, message, and accounting reports.
  • You will verify the security clearance of all personnel prior to granting them access to/issuing them COMSEC material.
  • You will execute TS/SCI indoctrinations/debriefs, document in the Defense Information System for Security (DISS), mail the original Nondisclosure Agreements to Special Security Officer (SSO) NAVY.
  • You will coordinate with the SSO on the various daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, and ADHOC requirements.
  • You will generale Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Instructions, and other regulatory guidance relating to COMSEC material and equipment in the SCIF.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position; INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST proficiency level INTERMEDIATE the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • This is a Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) position and requires DoD certification. Selectee must obtain and maintain certification within prescribed timeframes.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience with destruction, inventory, issuing, and using COMSEC material.
  • Experience with physical security, verifying security clearances, and the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility indoctrination process.
