What are the responsibilities and job description for the Carrier Sales Representative position at U.S. Expediters Inc?
Company Description
U.S. Expediters is a full-service transportation company delivering advanced, reliable supply chain solutions as an asset-light provider with dedicated fleet control. Our hybrid model blends in-house assets with strategic 3PL and carrier partnerships, committing to both traditional and digital approaches. This empowers shippers with unmatched speed, visibility, and peace of mind. With years of hands-on experience across the U.S., we've seen the flaws in modern shipping and built our operation to fix them, starting with a rock-solid carrier network that delivers every time.
Responsibilities
- Hunt down trucks when lanes heat up. Cold call carriers, dig through leads, and lock in capacity fast so we don't leave any load left behind.
- Own the whole load from start to finish: find the right carrier, negotiate rates that keep our margins healthy, book it, track everything, fix problems quick, and deliver it safely.
- Keep building out the carrier list. Focus on good ones that fit our network and actually show up on time.
- Work your carriers like accounts. Learn their trucks, preferred lanes, pain points.
- Handle carrier onboarding, insurance checks, and stay in touch so they're set up right and want to keep running with us.
- Don't let loads go dark. Give updates nonstop (24/7 if needed) to ops and shippers. Spot issues early and jump on them before they turn into bigger problems.
- Sell carriers on why they should run our freight: steady loads, quick pay, solid lanes, our 24/7 desk. Use that to pull better rates and get first dibs on their trucks.
- Crush the numbers monthly: load volume, margin per load, on-time %, carrier reliability.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Hard-working, highly energetic, and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Master-level negotiation skills
- Creative and resourceful problem-solver who finds trucks in tight markets and turns challenges into wins.
- Comfortable and proactive with outbound phone work, building relationships fast - no hiding behind email or texts.
- Highly detail-oriented with proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume brokerage environment.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1 years of Carrier Sales experience in Freight Brokerage required (shipper sales or freight forwarding experience does not qualify; must have hands-on carrier negotiation and capacity sourcing background).
What We Offer
- Competitive base uncapped commission tied to margin and load volume.
- 24/7 operations support and tools (TMS, load boards, carrier database).
- Opportunity to build and own a high-performing carrier book with real growth potential.
- Fast-paced environment backed by our hybrid asset model for consistent freight.
