Shape the Wells. Influence the Strategy.

At U.S. Energy, geology doesn't stop at mapping formations—it drives investment decisions, well placement, and long-term asset development. For more than 45 years, we've built a vertically integrated energy investment platform that combines technical expertise with disciplined execution to develop high-quality onshore oil and gas assets across North America.

We're looking for a Development Geologist to join our Acquisitions & Divestitures (A&D) team and play a critical role in developing our operated Delaware Basin assets while supporting acquisition evaluations across the Lower 48.

The Opportunity

This is a highly collaborative role where you'll work alongside Reservoir Engineers, Drilling, Completions, Operations, and A&D professionals to optimize field development and evaluate new investment opportunities. From well planning and landing zone selection to real-time drilling support and regional evaluations, you'll help shape both our development strategy and future growth.

If you enjoy solving complex geologic challenges, working across disciplines, and seeing your work directly influence drilling decisions and capital deployment, you'll thrive at U.S. Energy.

What You'll Do

  • Lead well planning activities, including formation targeting, landing zone selection, and well spacing recommendations.
  • Develop geological prognoses, maps, cross-sections, and subsurface interpretations that support drilling and long-term field development.
  • Partner with drilling and completions teams to provide real-time geologic support during operations.
  • Monitor geosteering activities and perform quality control on interpretations to optimize well placement.
  • Conduct post-drill evaluations and integrate learnings into future development plans.
  • Build and maintain regional geologic frameworks through well log correlation, mapping, and subsurface analysis.
  • Support acquisition evaluations through regional geological assessments and technical due diligence.
  • Present technical recommendations and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support development and investment decisions.

What You Bring

  • M.S. in Geology.
  • 3 years of E&P experience focused on development geology, well planning, or drilling operations.
  • Strong Permian Basin experience; multi-basin exposure is a plus.
  • Experience with Petra, Kingdom, or similar geoscience platforms.
  • Familiarity with StarSteer, ZoneVu, or comparable geosteering software.
  • Working knowledge of unconventional reservoir development, petrophysics, well log correlation, and formation evaluation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical disciplines.

Why U.S. Energy?

At U.S. Energy, you'll work alongside a collaborative team of technical professionals who value innovation, ownership, and continuous learning. We offer challenging work, meaningful career growth, and one of the industry's most competitive benefits packages, including:

  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for team members and eligible dependents
  • 401(k) with a 100% company match up to 5%
  • 100% tuition reimbursement for undergraduate and graduate degrees
  • Paid parental leave and family planning benefits
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Paid volunteer time
  • Weekly company-provided lunches and a collaborative culture recognized as one of the industry's best places to work

If you're ready to help shape the next generation of development opportunities in the Permian, we'd love to hear from you.
