Employee will serve as a Program Analyst - Research Data Analyst at the Veterans Healthcare Administration within Mental Illness Research - Education - and Clinical Center (MIRECC). The location of the position is negotiable. The salary represents the General Schedule U.S. base pay for the GS-12 grade. Salary will be based on locality pay within location of selection.

To be creditable - specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes applying analytical and evaluative methods using SQL and/or SAS to query - clean - and analyze large administrative healthcare datasets of a clinical program; collaborating with investigators to formulate and administer plans and policies designed to meet text/data mining research program objectives; and communicating both in-person and in-writing - to make presentations - present data - explain recommendations - provide guidance - and respond to inquiries - and prepare reports. Duties
- ***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION - YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE TO WORK AT THE LOCAL MEDICAL CENTER*** The primary duties of this position is responsible for applying analytical and evaluative methods to support research and program activities - assess program effectiveness - and inform data-driven decision-making related to clinical and research initiatives aligned with the MIRECC mission
- The position provides analytical support and recommendations to investigators and program stakeholders and contributes to discussions regarding data interpretation and program-related decisions
- Duties will include - but may not be limited to the following: Extracts - transforms - and analyzes large - complex datasets using Structured Query Language (SQL) and Statistical Analysis System (SAS) - writes and maintains reusable - documented analytical code that supports continuity and reproducibility across projects
- Designs and maintain provider-facing dashboards and data visualizations to support monitoring of clinical program adherence and quality metrics at local and national levels
- Presents analytical findings to investigators and program stakeholders - explains methodologies and results - and addresses questions related to data interpretations and applications
- Serves as a member of a team conducting substantive aspects of research where objectives are hard to define
- Prepares reports and co-authors articles for publication in scientific journals
- Engages in technical discussions with investigators and research stakeholders to interpret analytical findings - evaluate methodological approaches - and address differing scientific perspectives related to data analysis and results
- Participates with investigators to formulate and administer plans and policies designed to meet text/data mining research program objectives
- Perform other duties as necessary
- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00am - 4:30pm Telework: This position may be authorized for telework
