- GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNED DUTIES
- Primary duties are to provide Primary Care services to a panel of patients as part of an interprofessional primary care team in the VHA Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model
- The incumbent works as part of a primary care team and patient site care team members to provide primary care to Veterans The PA
- will be fully qualified and certified to function in a clinical role and in accordance with the guidelines and policies of the VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System
- This individual is delegated the authority and responsibility in his/her area of expertise to assume major clinical - consultative - educational - research - and administrative duties and assignments related to the examination of claimants filing compensation and pension claims

- Routine duties include - but are not limited to: - Provides comprehensive care for Veterans for a panel size of approximately 900 patients or same-day access - Perform initial histories and physical examination on outpatients - Provide ongoing outpatient care for assigned patients - Screen outpatients to determine the need for further care - Prescribe medications within the defined scope of practice - Order diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests - x-rays - electrocardiograms - Review need for and order health promotion and disease prevention measures - Initiate - respond to and expedite request for consultations - special tests - and studies - Provide education and counseling of patients and families in preventive care - medical conditions - and use of prescribed treatments and drugs 2
- Non-routine and non-emergent duties may include: dressing changes - suturing simple lacerations - suture removal - and wound debridement and care

- Emergency Duties include: Basic Life Support or Advanced Cardiac Life Support in accordance with current cardio-pulmonary resuscitation standards
- Pay: Competitive salary - annual performance bonus - regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave - 13 days of sick leave - 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1 -000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive
