- Duties include - but are not limited to: Provide coordinated comprehensive primary care to a prescribed number of patients - including the referrals to specialists as indicated Facilitate the ordering of diagnostic tests - ie lab work - x-rays - EKGs - consults - and similar studies
- documenting in the medical record all procedures performed for which the PA is responsible
- Documenting clinical findings and progress in the medical record consistent with timelines and appropriateness standards of practice and consistent established policies
- Initiate and monitor health maintenance in conjunction with the patient - family/significant other members of the multi-disciplinary team
- Initiate and adjust plans of care and emergency treatment indicated
- Provide and prompt psychological support - in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members - to patients and their support network
- Act as consultant to nursing personnel - physicians - and other health care consultants in their area of clinical experience
- Contribute to the formation of health policies or programs that make a sustained contribution for the health care of patient's/significant others
- Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences to assure the highest quality patient care and panel management
