This position is located within the Kansas City Veteran's Affairs Medical Center (KCVAMC) - Facilities Management Service (FMS). The position serves as a painter for facilities included in the Kansas VA Medical Center - to include outlying areas such as CBOCs and other facilities.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required - but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Duties
- Major duties include - but are not limited to the following: Interior and Exterior Painting: Performs both interior and exterior painting or coating of all types of building surfaces - including wood - concrete - wallboard - metal - plaster - and ceilings
- Paints signs and performs drywall finishing - smooths out cracks and seams - and prepares surfaces for all types of finishes required
- Recommends and performs necessary touch-ups and repairs to maintain the appearance and integrity of painted surfaces
- Wall Coverings: Installs and repairs various types of synthetic wall coverings using approved methods of the trade
- Surface Preparation: Prepares surfaces for painting by removing old paint - sanding - cleaning - and filling holes and cracks
- Applies primers and sealers to ensure proper adhesion of the final coat
- Mixing Paints: Mixes paints and pigments in the proper proportions to obtain desired colors
- Maintains accurate records of work performed - including materials used and time spent on each task
- Submits reports to the supervisor as required
