Incumbent works as the supervisor over the HVAC/Pipefitting Shop - Maintenance & Operations (M&O) Shops of Facilities Management Service for the Augusta VA Health Care System - Augusta - GA - under the supervision of the M&O Supervisor over the Building Maintenance - HVAC/Pipefitting & Renovation Team Shops. There are (2) HVAC/Pipefitting supervisors - Uptown & Downtown.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement - 04/14/2026. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required - but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge - skills - and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. Duties
- Duties include - but are not limited to the following: Performs all station level preventative maintenance to heating and cooling equipment - kitchen equipment - multiple office spaces - clinics - and functional areas of the hospital
- Makes necessary contacts when required for coordination and to gather additional information regarding preventative maintenance repairs and inspections
- Prepares cost estimates - obtains quotes - orders materials - parts - and equipment required for preventative maintenance
- Performs - and reviews work performed - practices - and methods involved in a variety of trades like pipefitting - HVAC - sheet metal forming - plumbing - & refrigeration
- Conducts periodic inspections of work that is in progress and that has been completed to determine the immediate and long-range work needs of the facility
- Coordinates Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA's) with safety and post signed documents prior to installations - repairs - and maintenance work Performs Contracting Officer Representative (COR) duties to include developing contract packages - statement of work (SOW) and obtaining quotes for requested services or parts & materials for maintenance & repairs and service contractors within the responsibility of the Maintenance & Operations
