Summary
The primary purpose of the Ambulatory Care Operations Director-Group Practice Manager (ACOD-GPM) is to provide oversight and administrative management of all ambulatory care services in the VAMC and related Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) as it relates to access to care as applicable.
Qualifications

Duties
- This position involves a multi-grade career ladder
- The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-12 - however a selection can be made at any of the following grade levels: GS-11 - OR GS-12
- At the GS-11 grade level - you will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-12
- Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance
- Major duties include - but are not limited to: Provides access related consultative services to the VAMC - VISN and National leadership
- Works with the National Program Office - in collaboration with VAMC Service Lines - to review and develop national guidance and policies that will facilitate standardized processes
- Reviews and provides input on nationally issued regulations and policies for VA-wide implementation - utilizing local ACOD-GPMs and communication strategies
- Coordinates and aligns system performance measures and goals with system needs and specific requirements of national or VISN cooperative efforts
- Reviews and evaluates local processes and procedures to determine areas of effectiveness - efficiency - and improvement for proposal through GPM Community of Practice and the national Steering Committee at the national level
- Reviews and evaluates system-wide training plans to optimize local use
- Proposes improvements in national training curriculum for onboarding and sustainment activities
- Maintains knowledge of clinic practice management training materials and oversee development of action plans to fulfill CPM training requirements
- Works with Veteran Experience Advocates at the local VAMC to evaluate patient and family concerns regarding the access to services needed
- Coordinates efforts to ensure patient concerns are received - evaluated - and addressed in a timely and effective manner by the appropriate subject matter experts
- Aligns local processes with planning and policies at the network and national access leadership levels
- Establishes benchmarks and a process for taking corrective actions on decreasing/low scores in Veterans/Staff experience data
- Leads program planning and execution for VHA-approved program of clinic practice management at the VAMC level
- Work with local personnel to integrate data analytics and measures with continuous process improvement utilizing LEAN - Six Sigma - and other improvement methodologies to meet and sustain ambulatory care goals and objectives
- Collects and analyzes trended data sets to assist in the allocation of resources
- Develops both long- and short-term policies and plans for the VAMC
- Coordinates ambulatory care medical administration needs of the VAMC for incorporation into annual budget and operating plans
- Develops and maintains annual budget plan and staffing plans for outpatient care
- Provides administrative management for ambulatory care clinical support services
- Acts as a liaison or point person for communication with persons and/or groups internal or external to the VAMC - speaking for the principal on Clinical Access issues
- Performs other related duties as assigned
