Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing task (e.g. - environment of care - textile distribution and training) associated with the EMS goals and objectives. Tours of duty may vary depending on the internal department needs with weekdays - weekends - day and evening shift schedules.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required - but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge - skills - and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element - which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the Job Elements: Dexterity and Safety Interpret Instructions - Specifications (other than blueprint reading) Lead or Supervise Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Work Practices Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience - including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. - Peace Corps - AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. - professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies - knowledge - and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience - including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Duties

  • The position is delegated responsibility for assigning staff for routine and non-routine duties on a daily and a project-by-project basis
  • Non-routine duties require that the position reorganize work schedules efficiently to ensure work is accomplished in a timely manner
  • This position is required to coordinate work with supervisors of other services within the positions area of jurisdiction so as not to interrupt patient care or other activities
  • The position trains staff and ensures that they are using patient-centered care principles in terms of customer service to patients - patients' family members and personnel
  • Provides on-the job training for subordinates as individual needs dictate
  • Due to the constant change in the type of patients - provides proper on-the-job training to ensure the housekeeping duties are effectively accomplished
  • The position provides special directions to new employees to prepare them for individual assignments - procedures and safety policies
  • The position schedules regular meetings with staff to make them aware of new procedures or directives
  • The position keeps the supervisor informed as to the condition of staff - unusual occurrences or matters that should be brought to the attention of their supervisor
  • Keeps subordinates abreast of proper methods - procedures and uses of equipment and supplies
  • control the use of supplies and equipment to affect cost control within the unit
  • The position may be assigned to conduct in-use testing of equipment and/or supplies - providing feedback in regard to their observations
  • The position ensures all safety regulations and procedures are observed and may on occasion be required to conduct training classes on specific safety issues
  • The position may supervise the daily distribution of uniforms and textiles to the designated areas and persons and ensures record keeping is timely and accurate
  • The position approves leave requests for subordinates - counsels' employees - and recommends disciplinary action to a higher-level supervisor whenever non-compliance with policy warrants
  • The position makes formal appraisal of subordinates works performance and conduct
  • The position is responsible for the coordination of activities with other services - including rearranging work schedules during remodeling - painting and relocation of offices - clinics or patient wards and other duties which help coordinate moves
  • The position routinely inspects assigned areas to assure the timely accomplishment of employee assignments - sanitation levels are maintained - equipment properly cared for and that associated housekeeping objectives are accomplished in an expedient and timely manner
  • The position is responsible for the quality inspection of assigned areas - recording discrepancies in cleanliness - needed maintenance repairs - broken or inadequately stored furnishings and equipment
  • Provides documented inspection reports and acts on unaccomplished work
  • The position is responsible for the removal of furniture in need of repair and/or replacement along with the initiation of an electronic work request
  • The position is responsible for the review of procedures - methods and sequence of tasks performed by employees under their supervision
  • The position is performed within established guidelines - operating procedures and department and Medical Center policy
  • Receives general supervision and instructions from the supervisor
  • The position works independently following up on all work assignments to ensure that established procedures - work assignments and safety standards are being properly applied and adjusted as necessary
  • The position ensures time and attendance records are accurate and complete prior to submission to timekeeper
  • The position keeps immediate supervisor apprised of actual or potential problems and recommends remedial corrective actions
  • Work Schedule: 3 Shifts: 7:00am-3:30pm - 3:00pm-11::30pm - & 11:00pm-7:00am
  • with rotating weekends and holidays
  • Schedules will be assigned per the needs of the service

  • Must be physically able to remain engaged in manual work requiring muscular effort
  • Visual acuity must be sufficient to see dust - dirt - cobwebs - etc.
