Duties
- The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers

- The Dental Medical Director provides clinical leadership to the service
- Duties include: Directs the development and maintenance of innovative cost effective programs - which meet JCAHO - Network 23 - VHA headquarters - and medical center standards
- Develops and maintains continuing programs in the areas of professional peer review - organizational improvement - continuing education - scope of practice - clinical privileging and other quality improvement activities
- Planning - organizing - evaluation - and management of all clinical aspects of assigned tasks and functions for the dental service line dentists - dental hygienists - and dental assistants
- Assures that appropriately qualified individuals provide clinical oversite to staff and functions within the dental line - providing direct patient care
- Supervises dentists - hygienists - and dental assistants
- Serves as a consultant to the Associate Chief of Staff for surgery and the community on policy - procedure - and problems - which relate to dental services
- Participates in the development - implementation - and maintenance of medical center - network - and Department of Veterans Affairs level initiatives
