Qualifications
To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required - but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge - skills - and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element - which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Duties
- Duties include but are not limited to: Operates - regulates - maintains - and repairs the Boiler Plant Unit of the Utility Systems Operation Section of Facilities Management Service
- Safely and efficiently operate high pressure automatic gas and oil fired boilers and all associated auxiliary equipment - instruments - electronic/pneumatic controls and measuring devices in a steam generating plant
- Operates the Chiller Plant and all utility systems and equipment associated with the steam and chilled water distribution systems
- Monitors and controls Medical Center Heating - Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems
- Monitor other medical center equipment through hardwired devices to the Boiler Plant - i.e. - generators - intrusion alarms - space temperatures - etc
- Maintain utility systems and related equipment in the boiler plant - i.e. - valves - pumps - motors - and exhaust fans
- Work Schedule: Rotating Shifts - subject to change due to position coverage
- Position Description Title/PD#: Boiler Plant Operator/PD07911A Permanent Change of Station (PCS): May be authorized Physical Requirements: Selectee will work from ladders platforms - and in hard to reach locations
- Work on close - cramped positions inside boilers
- Requires standing - walking - bending - stooping - crawling - kneeling - climbing - pushing - pulling - and lifting
- Occasionally required to lift and move heavy objects of varying weights - sizes - and shapes
- Pushes and pull equipment.
