Duties
- The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in Express Care to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission
- The NP provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management
- Major duties include - but are not limited to: Independently provide direct patient care in an acute setting
- Order and interprets labs - testing - diagnostic studies
- Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
- Initiates referrals and specialty care consults as needed
- Provides education and their caregivers
- Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively within emergency medicine and with other interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to complete minor procedures unsupervised - such as simple laceration suturing - applying splints - incision and drainage - aspiration and injection of joints
