Job Description
The Northern District of Mississippi is accepting applications for an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) position in its Criminal Division. Attorneys in the Criminal Division are responsible for the prosecution of a variety of crimes under federal law including violent crime, fraud, public corruption, illegal immigration, child pornography, human trafficking, drug violations, firearms violations, terrorism and asset forfeiture.
This position is open to law school graduates and current law students that plan to take the 2026 bar examination (these applicants must possess a J.D. degree, and must be a member of the Bar prior to their entry on duty (EOD) date;
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Qualifications
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen.
Applicants must possess a J.D. degree (or equivalent) and be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction) by their entry on duty date. Law school graduates and current law students taking a July 2026 bar examination may be considered.

Salary
Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $ $76,748 to $197,100 which includes locality pay.
