You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Materials Handler duties. I can conduct monthly physical inventory of all food and non-food items by established procedures. I can make proper notations as to receipts, overages, or shortages on orders received. I can place stock in appropriate temporary or permanent storage locations. I work under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who reviews my work for completion. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Work is performed on hard surfaces and in a work area that requires standing, stooping, kneeling, and bending. Frequently lifts and carries various supply items and may lift and carry items that weigh up to 8 kilograms (40 pounds).
Work is performed mostly inside the dining facility but may occasionally be outdoors during all types of weather. The dining facility, kitchen, and supply room may be hot, cold, damp, drafty, we or oily floors, and/or poorly lighted. The work may be dirty, dusty, and/or greasy. The incumbent may be frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises; or falls from ladders. Required to work closely with other employees to accomplish assignments. Computer data entry, ordering and related paperwork activities are completed within the dry goods storage area. During the storing and inventorying of food items, individual may be exposed to temperatures below 0 degrees Fahrenheit and to extremely hot temperatures when receiving and handling orders during the summer months.
