Position Overview

The Director of CCMC will develop and implement projects and programs that influence public policy on issues relating to U.S. and global regulation of corporate governance, financial, and capital markets. This individual is a registered lobbyist with responsibility for enacting policy change before regulatory agencies, Congress, and other organizations. The position primarily interfaces with publicly traded companies, investment firms, asset managers, nonbanks, private equity and regulatory bodies, including the SEC, Treasury, and FINRA.

Responsibilities

  • Remain current on policy developments, including those related to corporate governance, investment, asset management, capital markets, capital formation, public company growth, and free market expansion.
  • Establish relationships and persuasively lobby senior policymakers with a focus on House Financial Services, Senate Banking, SEC, PCAOB, FINRA, Treasury, and DOL.
  • Manage member company working groups to develop policy positions and advocacy strategies.
  • Coordinate the development of research and studies.
  • Write comment letters to regulatory agencies.
  • Write letters to Congress expressing views on legislation.
  • Effectively manage member relations.
  • Draft and edit presentations and other advocacy materials.
  • Develop materials for and speak at briefings and conferences.
  • Partner with other divisions to achieve shared policy objectives.
  • Support paid and earned media campaigns run by the Communications team.
  • Build and manage coalitions of member companies and other stakeholders.
  • Direct the work of outside consultants.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience working in Congress, the executive branch/regulatory agency, a trade association, or the government affairs office of a company focused on financial regulatory policy issues.
  • Candidates with an advanced degree such as a Juris Doctor or an MBA or a relevant master’s degree in fields like public policy or finance are strongly preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory and legislative processes, an awareness of the political factors that influence policy outcomes, and a proven track record of influencing public policy.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Candidates with a strong background in public policy issues related to corporate reporting and corporate governance, as well as those with experience engaging with the SEC, Treasury, FINRA, the House Financial Services Committee, or the Senate Banking Committee, will be given priority.


The salary range for this position is $147,923.00 to $175,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
