Duties

Help

  • Prepares and/or slices a variety of fast-food items including but not limited to hamburgers, hot dogs, fish, chicken, pizzas, French fries, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, etc. Removes perishable food from the cooler/freezer for daily activities.
  • Assures tables/work surfaces are promptly cleared and cleaned. Cleans other work areas to include walls, floors, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Accepts food orders from patrons. Serves as cashier, receiving payment by cash or credit/debit card. Completes cash report at the end of assigned shift. Spot checks the guest checks to ensure information recorded is correct
  • Follows all safety, security, and good housekeeping rules.
  • May work on a mobile eating cart driving around to deliver food and drinks to patrons. May be required to order food items, condiments, and other supplies. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • Must meet state/local age requirements at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages. Certificate of Medical Examination is required.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
  • Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Light to heavy physical effort is required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Incumbent must have the mental, physical, oral, and audio ability to perform all of the duties of this job in both a satisfactory and safe manner.
  • There are requirements to walk, stoop, bend, pull, push, and reach, frequently and to stand for long periods of time.
  • May be exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, and hot working surfaces and extreme temperature changes when entering walk in refrigerators or freezing units.
  • May be required to work on ladders and use power cleaning equipment. There is a danger of falling from a ladder, of slipping on a floor where food or beverages have been spilled.
  • May work indoors in normal indoor kitchen and dining room conditions and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions running a food cart.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

A Qualified Candidate Must Possess The Following

  • Must meet state/local age requirements at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Ability to work without more than normal supervision.
  • Ability to keep things neat, clean, and in order.
  • Possess basic food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Ability to interpret verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic sanitation principles.
  • Ability to use and maintain kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds and frequently walk, bend, stoop, pull, push and reach.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must have skill and knowledge to perform tasks involving several procedures and be able to concentrate on work assignments despite interruptions and distractions.
  • A working knowledge of sanitation standards is required as well as knowledge of procedures to prevent contamination.
  • Must know basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures. Must have the ability to read and understand written material.
  • Must have knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apportion, weigh, and measure foods properly and to use electrical appliances, grills, stoves, ovens, and other common kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Ability to operate a cash register, run a snack bar and drive a food cart.

Allowances and Differentials

  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
