Duties

  • Interprets and applies policies and mandated procedures to all shipments, reviews commodities to be shipped for items which have size or weight of such a nature that particular handling, loading, or carrier equipment is required.
  • handles shipments involving nonrecurring origin or destination points, non-consistent route patterns, consolidation to junction points for shipment in smaller lots to different destinations, or remote locations.
  • Verifies shipper is authorized to ship HAZMAT and has documented proof of such authorization.
  • Completes inspection checklist for all HAZMAT shipments through the Transportation Division; accepts or rejects based upon regulatory compliance.
  • Utilizes a variety of Department of the Army (DA)/Department of Defense (DoD) mandated automated systems to accomplish actions necessary to accomplish routing, carrier selection, shipment costs, bill of lading preparation.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain certification of HAZMAT for General Transportation of Hazardous Materials in accordance with 49 CFR Part 172, Subpart H (172.704), DOD 4500.9R chapter 204, IATA, and AFMAN 24-204(I) within 12 months.
  • Weekend, evening and holiday work may be required.
  • May be required to work overtime and/or to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • In accordance with DoDM 8140.03 and supplemental Army guidance, the employee must obtain and maintain the following requirements for each Cyber work role (except Data, AI, and/or Software Engineering) at the assigned proficiency level:
  • (Cont'd) 1) Foundational qualification requirements w/in 9 months 2) Resident qualification requirements w/in 12 months, 3) 20 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) per work role code (which can overlap).
  • This position is designated Tier 3, Non-Critical Sensitive, Moderate Risk and requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance Level as a condition of employment.
  • This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.

I have one year of specialized experience which includes work experience such as interpreting and applying policies and mandated procedures to all shipments; exercising responsibility for the shipment of all Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) routed through the Transportation Division from various organizations; and ensures the shipment is properly packaged, labeled, and marked. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07), or Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
