Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronics Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. Perform common Electronics Mechanic duties such as maintenance on electrical units; and determine the correct trouble shooting methods to be used. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

- Identify component failure on a variety of complex integrated circuitry.
- Analyze data from a variety of electrical test equipment.
- Recommend solutions to repair electrical units.
- Operate hand/power tools to repair electrical units.
- Verify correct trouble shooting methods are used on electrical equipment.
- Advise others on changes to equipment operation specifications.
Conditions of employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Must be able to pass a physical examination prior to employment and annually thereafter.
- Must be able to physically lift up to 50 lb. during normal operations.
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Soldering Certification to support mission operations.

- Physical Efforts: Work involves standing, bending, stooping and protracted periods at consoles. Continuously handles objects weighing from 10 to 50 pounds.
- Working Conditions: Normally works in well lighted, heated and ventilated shop areas. Subject to the possibility of cuts, bruises, burns and shock caused by high voltage energy, soldering irons, radiation, etc.
