What are the responsibilities and job description for the U-Haul Trailer Mechanic position at U-Haul?
We are looking for someone to inspect and replace trailer drum brakes, leaf springs, and other common/basic trailer repairs. You will also follow and answer DOT questions on U-Haul's electronic inspection form via tablet. We will train the right individual. Pay is based on experience. Between $18-27 per hour starting, and then review after 90 days and adjust as needed.
Hours can be very flexible—Monday-Friday, between 5:45 am and 3:00 pm. We will work with you to find a schedule that works for you.
We supply you with a tablet, tools, and a toolbox.

Trailer And SRI Repair Specialist Primary Responsibilities
- Secure trailers on lifts and dollies.
- Perform tire and brake maintenance.
- Rebuild and repair braking systems and trailer components.
- Dismount, balance and mount tires.
- Occasionally road-test vehicles
- Work on a production line.
- Use proprietary electronic pre-inspection and repair checklist.
- Team Members are expected to willingly lend assistance in additional areas as necessary, following the directives and guidance of their supervisor.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of repair experience preferred
- Driver’s license
- The ability to work as part of a team as well as individually
- Basic computer skills
- Regular attendance
