Field Facilities & Technology Specialist
If you're a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working with technology and facility maintenance, consider joining U-Haul as a Field Facilities & Technology Specialist. In this hybrid role, you'll combine your technical expertise with facility maintenance skills to support U-Haul locations by maintaining computer systems, security equipment, and building infrastructure. You'll work independently while collaborating with other technicians to complete projects, troubleshoot issues, and keep our facilities operating efficiently.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain maximum uptime for computer systems, broadband connectivity, and network infrastructure.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain computers, printers, VoIP and analog phone systems, digital video equipment, security systems, storage gates, alarm systems, and related technology.
- Diagnose technical issues, distinguish between user error and system problems, and escalate issues to the appropriate support teams or vendors when necessary.
- Provide end-user support and training on hardware, software, and technology systems.
- Inspect, maintain, repair, and assist with construction and improvements of U-Haul facilities.
- Perform general building maintenance, including preventive maintenance inspections and semiannual roof inspections.
- Complete repairs involving electrical, HVAC, plumbing, landscaping, and general facility upkeep as needed.
- Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete maintenance and installation projects.
- Identify and coordinate solutions for security gaps and compliance issues.
- Complete work orders accurately and in a timely, professional manner.
- Maintain responsibility for assigned company vehicle, tools, and gas card.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development through U-Haul University.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with computer hardware, networking, technology support, security systems, or related IT infrastructure.
- Experience in one or more of the following trades: electrical, HVAC, air conditioning, plumbing, landscaping, or general building maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot both technical and facility-related issues independently.
- Experience with security-monitoring equipment, digital video systems, alarm systems, storage gates, printers, computers, cash drawers, and communication systems is preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Work Environment
This position involves moderate risks and requires adherence to established safety procedures. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to moving machinery, chemicals, or other environmental hazards. Personal protective equipment may be required, including gloves, goggles, masks, or shields.
Physical Demands
This role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, and using hand and power tools. Candidates must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance, and work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.
