U-32 is seeking a highly motivated, disciplined, and organized person with strong interpersonal skills to fill a position in our middle & high school educational based athletic program as a Certified Athletic Trainer/Assistant Athletic Director.
The successful candidate will be the Head Athletic Trainer and assist the Athletic Director in organizing and managing our Educational Based Athletic and Recreation program. Start date is immediately.
Summary of Responsibilities
Maintains health, safety, and wellness of all student-athletes through injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, treatment rehabilitation and reconditioning, organization and administration. Provide overall assistance and supervision to the athletic & activities department.
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
1. Injury prevention through strength and conditioning programs, equipment fitting, taping, bandaging, bracing, and nutrition.
2. Recognition, evaluation, and assessment of athletic/orthopedic injuries or illness.
3. Managing concussions as well as coordinating both return to learn (RTL) and return to play (RTP) protocols for student-athletes.
4. Immediate care of athletic/orthopedic injury or illness.
5. Treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of athletes with athletic or orthopedic injuries or illness.
6. Supervision, Organization and administration of the athletic training program and facilities. Duties may include but are not limited to: Bid Preparation, ordering supplies, maintain inventory, maintain proper medical records, injury reports, and daily treatment logs
7. Providing athletic training coverage for home athletic events and practices within hourly constraints
8. Coordinate efforts with coaches, parents, and other qualified allied health personal
9. Supply teams with appropriate medical kits for their activities
10. Supervision & Maintenance of the athletic training room
11. Implementation and management of Athletic Emergency Action Plans & coordination with local emergency responders
12. Professional development, maintaining certifications, and quality of care.
13. Refer athletes to physicians and other medical personnel as needed.
Administrative Tasks Include, but not limited to:
1. Prepare Team and Club Rosters
2. Assist with social media promotions/presence
3. Assist with game and event set up and takedown
4. Maintain Varsity Letter and Participation Records
5. Assist with verifying student participation eligibility (well-exams, registration)
6. Serve as a site administrator in the absence of the Athletic Director at home or away events
7. Assist with uniform distribution and inventory
Successful candidates must have the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree and valid ATC/CAT certification
2. Certified in Professional Rescuer First Aid, CPR, and AED
3. Licensed by the State of Vermont
4. Strong organizational and communication skills
