Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred.
- College degree, in the process of achieving a degree, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in a medical environment and some knowledge of procedures and diagnostic tests involved in examinations.
- Knowledge of internal control practices and procedures.
- Willing to participate in continuing education in the medical field for the duration of employment.
- Perform accurate and consistent documentation.
- Perform diagnostic testing.
- Examines eye for abnormalities of cornea, pupil and anterior chamber.
- May applies drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
- Measures intraocular pressure of eyes (glaucoma test).
- Performs other tests and measurements as requested by Ophthalmologist/Optometrist.
- Additional technical training will be provided
- Maintain a smooth flow of patients to the physician, altering the test sequence as required.
- Communicate with ophthalmic assistants and/or patient services staff to facilitate proper patient flow.
