Diagnostic Technician - Entry Level

Qualifications and Preferred Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred.
• College degree, in the process of achieving a degree, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in a medical environment and some knowledge of procedures and diagnostic tests involved in examinations.
• Knowledge of internal control practices and procedures.
• Willing to participate in continuing education in the medical field for the duration of employment.
  
  
  

Responsibilities/ Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:

• Perform accurate and consistent documentation.
• Perform diagnostic testing.
• Examines eye for abnormalities of cornea, pupil and anterior chamber.
• May applies drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
• Measures intraocular pressure of eyes (glaucoma test).
• Performs other tests and measurements as requested by Ophthalmologist/Optometrist.
• Additional technical training will be provided
• Maintain a smooth flow of patients to the physician, altering the test sequence as required.
• Communicate with ophthalmic assistants and/or patient services staff to facilitate proper patient flow.
