Position Title: Substitute Bus Driver
Reports To: Transportation Director / School Principal
Position Summary:
Tyrrell County Schools is seeking qualified and dependable individuals to serve as Substitute Bus Drivers. This position is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, field trips, and school-sponsored activities. Substitute Bus Drivers are called upon as needed to ensure uninterrupted transportation services for students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate a school bus safely and efficiently in accordance with North Carolina laws and district policies.

Transport students to and from school, field trips, and extracurricular activities.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, reporting any concerns to the Transportation Department.

Maintain student discipline on the bus in accordance with school policies.

Monitor and ensure the safety of all passengers while loading, transporting, and unloading.

Maintain accurate and timely records as required.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or school administration.
Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid North Carolina driver’s license.

CDL with School Bus Certification

Must pass a DOT physical examination, background check, and drug/alcohol screening.

Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, and parents.

Strong sense of responsibility, dependability, and punctuality.
Work Schedule:

As needed, flexible schedule depending on district transportation needs.
Compensation:

Paid on a substitute rate as approved by the Tyrrell County Schools Board of Education.
