Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following aseptic techniques to uphold infection control standards.
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging when necessary to support comprehensive patient care.
- Support front desk operations by acting as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow efficiently.
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices to promote overall health.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to infection control policies and OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry practices to enhance workflow efficiency and patient comfort.
- Assist with medical documentation and coding for insurance claims or medical records management as required.
Qualifications
- Valid license or certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent in your region.
- Proven experience working in a general dentistry or specialty practice such as prosthodontics or pediatrics.
- Proficiency with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; familiarity with medical coding is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging devices safely and accurately.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with patients of all ages, especially pediatric dentistry patients.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Experience with chairside assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry and vital signs measurement.
