Compensation: $115,000 – $130,000

Tyra Biosciences, Inc., a clinical-stage public biotechnology company based in Carlsbad, California, is seeking a responsible, detail-oriented, and proactive Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is instrumental in supporting company’s financial operations, with a primary focus on general ledger accounting, and offers a unique opportunity to grow within a dynamic, fast-paced biotech environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries and account reconciliations for key areas including, but not limited to, cash, deposits, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, accrued R&D, leases, other liabilities, and allocations.
• Support the month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to support purchasing and month-end close activities.
• Assist with quarterly reviews and annual audits, including preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
• Prepare tax-related deliverables, including provision support, tax return inputs, and compliance filings.
• Review procurement documentation (requisitions, change orders, invoices) for accuracy and policy compliance.
• Serve as a backup for Accounts Payable functions, including invoice coding and 1099 reporting.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and SOX internal controls.
• Support the Finance department by performing other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required); CPA (strongly preferred).
• 3 years of progressive accounting experience; Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required; experience with NetSuite, Coupa, Equity Edge, and ADP is a plus.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment across departments.

Compensation:

This role may be eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus and equity grants. Actual pay is determined by factors including qualifications, experience, education, and job-related factors permitted by law.
