What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Cost Accountant position at TYR Tactical?
Develop, maintain, and update product standard costs, BOMs, and routings to ensure accurate and consistent cost data.
Compare standard costs to actual costs; investigate, analyze, and explain variances by product, part number, customer, and production job.
Collaborate with Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing to maintain BOM accuracy, incorporating design changes, substitutions, and new product introductions.
Monitor raw material, labor, and overhead trends; assess their impact on product costs; and provide recommendations to management.
Produce daily, monthly, and ad hoc cost, variance, and production reports, including gross margin analysis by customer, part, and job.
Support new product development and launches by preparing cost estimates and analyzing impacts of design or process changes.
Study and collect data to determine costs of business activities including raw materials, inventory, and labor.
Perform inventory account reconciliations, cycle counts, and reserve analysis; monitor and report on inventory risks.
Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, preparing cost-related journal entries, reconciliations, and supplemental reports.
Support internal controls, cost accounting policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with manufacturing standards.
Partner cross-functionally to identify inefficiencies, recommend process improvements, and enhance cost transparency.
