Job Description:
The Senior Rail Track Engineer will lead a quality production of track geometry design per client’s design standards and specifications, using either MicroStation InRoads, MicroStation PowerRail, MicroStation Openrail or AutoCAD Civil 3D design software. This position works closely with design engineering manager and track design manager to develop project specific documents, schedule of quantities, cost estimate, bid items, specifications, technical reports. The preferred candidate is self-motivated, technically proficient and team oriented; possesses strong written and verbal communication skills; is willing to mentor and guide junior engineer staff; and is receptive to continuous improvements.
Duties:
- Produce track geometry design plans and specification. design calculations, quantities, cost estimates, and specifications
- Lead and provide a high-quality track geometry and track design on budget and schedule with a high level of customer satisfaction
- Manage the track plans production schedule and proactively forecast and communicate project development status
- Perform QA/QC on each deliverable per project specific QA/QC procedure and establish project quality expectations among team members
- Collaborate with track design manager to implement best practices related to track design and other disciplines.
- Conduct team meetings and attend project team meetings
- Draft and submit project work plan including schedule, budget and resource
- Support the design engineering manager and track design manager through the entire project
- Collaborate with other disciplines during project design phase (e.g. Design Principle, Detail Design)
- Supervise and mentor junior engineer staff and provide input on their performance while serving as track design lead role
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineer staff
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate project team members
- Support planning and reviewing of project schedule
- Support International Group Railway Department in overseas projects
- Understanding of project contract, project design standards, client’s standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in track geometry and track design
- Experience with local and national standards (AREMA, CPUC, etc). Knowledge of High-Speed Rail standards is a plus
- Experience with local public authorities (Metrolink, LA Metro, Amtrak, CAHSR, etc)
- Proficiency with either MicroStation Inroads, MicroStation PowerRail, MicroStation Openrail or AutoCAD Civil 3D design
- P.E license in California and other states is a plus
- Experience with Microsoft 365 Office
- Experience with Primavera, ProjectWise, BIM and 3D modeling software is a plus
- Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier

This position will require general supervision and will have to use independent judgment within established guidelines. Salary : $140,000 - $190,000
