Reporting to: Senior VP of Program Management

Your Role In The Mission

The Lead Laboratory Technical Associate will be responsible for:

• Assembling equipment, sub-systems, instruments and data acquisition for a fusion fuel cycle development lab using UHV best practices;
• Planning, writing procedures, and performing experiments;
• Mentoring and teaching laboratory personnel how to operate UHV systems, compressed gas systems, and associated equipment safely;
• Manage laboratory equipment and consumables;
• Must be able to present experimental results to engineers and scientists.
  
  

The ideal Lead Laboratory Technical Associate must have a safety first mindset.

What You’ll Need

• Minimum 10 years of experience in a development laboratory using UHV systems and instruments;
• Solid understanding and experience using the globally harmonized system of classification and labelling of chemicals;
• Demonstrated experience using SDS and applying them to experimental planning, safety measures, and PPE;
• In depth knowledge of UHV systems, components, instruments, and best practices;
• Experience with cryogenic systems including cryocoolers, liquid nitrogen, and liquid helium;
• Mechanical and electrical assembly skills for UHV and cryogenic equipment;
• In depth knowledge of data acquisition and analysis;
• Presentation skills.
  
  

Desired Experience

• Hydrogen safety and compressed gas handling experience;
• Experience with hydrogen isotopes;
• Experience with clean room protocols;
• Experience cleaning, handling, and storing components for clean room use or UHV use;
• Operational experience with metal hydride storage beds;
• Knowledge of the fusion fuel cycle.
